Well. Soon to embark on that pile of work sitting nicely beside me with its cheeky smile, seemingly sending off sparks of guilt.
Anyway, im really glad for the holidays. Only time to actually blog without worrying about the clicking of the lock and opening of doors.
Back to campfire. So after we edited, we had to go up and practise again. This time without mikes but on the stage with ten-plus people below shifting stuff.
Then hurrying off to bathe and i did not bother having dinner though Ziyad was with his peers enjoying fried chicken. And we were late in testing the mike. Thanks to the latter latter latter. Nice chicken eh?
Final preparations, silent rehearsals, and waiting for those all-so-cheerful late-comers. Then it was on.
S: "Good Evening to all our guests here today, teachers, adult leaders, fellow scouts and guides. ARE YOU READY FOR ARROW SCOUTS 69th CAMPFIRE 2007?!!
Reminiscence. Great theme, isn't it? Sophisticated and rich.
First mishap: Mike. Before i even said anything.
Result: We were stuck with one cord mike.
Second error: Minjoot was EARLY.
Result: One chunk of words gone. And no practice for adiji.
Predicted flaw: Weird pauses between consecutive songs.
Result: Stone-age
Third problem: Shy and lost audience. Hello Ketal anyone?
Result: Thankfully after a while it got better with Sec 4 help.
Fourth: Enthu warriors and brides. In fact every single one. We repeatedly told the dressed ones to wait till we call. In the end they took turns to come up without asking.
Result: After ALOT of sending them back, finally peace.
Fifth: STUPID toot girl from some school beside Arrow. No offence to the school. Only to the girl. Stepped on the mike wire like dunno how many times.
Result: Endless 'excuse me's.
Sixth: No Carol.
Result: Won't elaborate.
Oh the song game. Went rather well.
Except people with WRONG answers.
Like,
Hero by Faith Hill. *GLASS SHATTERS*
And alot of nonsense song names.
Then WB's 'Shi Jie Wei Yi De Ni' i think, hokkien song by Andy Lau, pardon me if i'm not wrong, no one knew. And no VIP came up.
Ooh. From after the prize presentation onwards, the script was damn emo. Love it.
"Only when you start to appreciate your past, will you learn to BE PREPARED for the future ahead."
-Ziyad & Shervin (Written by Shervin)
An event truly worth reminiscing about.
Which brought me to the topic of purpose.
Baden, his legacy of Scouting, his lasting memory. How he managed to turn this simple idea of boys in the outdoors into a legacy worldwide. No other group is that big for a non-political purpose.
The Red Cross and St John's are medics. The Army is naturally, defending the country.
We're the only ones. As one. With one purpose. With one promise. The same law.
What keeps this movement going? That sole passion. The driving force. (hint terence)
The BP Spirit.
Just like what keeps me working hard for the school. The VS Spirit. But it is of course nothing compared to BP.
"To help other people. And to keep the Scout Law."
"A Scout has courage in all difficulties."
That's me.
